The NHL Draft will probably be the most important hockey-related event for Canadians in 2012 (unless you believe TSN's World Juniors hype, and you don't). None of Canada's seven storied franchises made the second round of the playoffs, so the possibility of Stanley Cup-related hype is out. Three of Canada's storied franchises draft in the top five, with the Edmonton set to kick off the draft festivities, again. The draft hype will be heavy, likely ridiculous, so why wait?
The April update of the 2012 NHL Consensus Top 100 was all about Teuvo Teräväinen. He leapt into the Top 10, jumping 25 places in a single month. The sources for the consensus list are Bob McKenzie, Redline Report, Future Considerations, ISS, Craig Button, Hockey Prospectus, The Scouting Report, and Win Shares via Nick, A.K.A. Mathletic. I build the consensus ratings based on the historical accuracy of each source (h/t Eric T). The May update won't be out for a couple of weeks, but some of our sources have updated their lists, creating a temporary Top 100. I've used the Top 60 create this mock draft, and made the assumption that chalk will win out in the NHL playoffs, and will update the article if that doesn't happen.

2 Russians and a Blade? I swear I had no impact on this mock draft regarding Montreal's picks at all. Although if the Habs twice passed on Bozon I'd be quite pissed even with the Blade/Russian combo.
I'm quite jealous of Florida's haul. Are we still thinking Frk is going that high? I'm not seeing a lot of love recently.
I hadn't considered Aberg for the Flames until now, but his results this year in the SEL are actually pretty good for a kid his age.
I don't think we live in a world where the Oilers would take Jordan Schmaltz before Dalton Thrower.
Long Island Islanders? Seriously? You mean the New York Islanders? Go ahead and call the Coyotes the Glendale Coyotes, why don't you. And the Tampa Lightning? Geez. I'm sure gonna take your mock draft seriously when you can't name two teams in the NHL correctly.
Bruce,
given the way both are trending, it wouldn't surprise me to see Bozon closer to 23.
Kent, I hope Feaster is open to a European forward:
12 Sebastian Collberg 13 Radek Faksa 14 Pontus Åberg 15 Zemgus Girgensons
Is Forsberg typically above Grigorenko?
In any case, I guess it makes sense that Columbus would take him given their history not to mention they are obviously good to go on D with the amazing trade that brought in Jack Johnson.
In the consensus, Forsberg has moved above Grigorenko. Button's got him at 14, Red Line at 7.
Trouba and Pokka sound great together.
Full Disclosure: I have never had much time for Craig Button's views.
Question: does he actually know what he is talking about?
"Question: does he actually know what he is talking about?"
He's just slightly less accurate than Bob McKenzie when it comes to projecting the top 30 draft order. Well ahead of Red Line or CSB or ISS. After the top 30, he falls apart a bit.
"Trouba and Pokka sound great together."
On Trouba - I've talked to a couple of people who love him and describe him like Letang and a few people who have no time for him and think he might top out, if everything goes well, at Liles.
Rielly, Trouba, Dumba are all significantly younger than Murray, with Dumba 10 months younger. I think Murray's perceived lack of offense and his age are starting to work against him everywhere but the Edmonton media.
I don't see the Bruins taking another goalie, not after Volden, and the other goalie picks of the the last two years. I lean towards either. Power forward or defenseman.
Yeah, Derek, while I'm not as offended as my friend over there, calling them "Long Island" (as you do in Copper & Blue also I've noticed) is kind of weird and condescending.
Yeah, sorry fellas, it's not changing. First, there's no city named Tampa Bay, so that's out - it's Tampa. Second it's easier to identify the New York-area teams by using "Long Island".
If a simple moniker switch upsets you, this probably isn't going to be your cup of tea.
I will pee my pants with joy if the Jets land Trouba
I would think that the Oilers would give at least some consideration to Henrik Samuelsson. That is a raw man-child that is getting better and better!
For the size alone, he is worth considering! And I believe that until recently he has played as a Centre.
Habs need to draft Galchenyuk, the big, skilled center they desperately need, and with 5 picks by the 95th pick, they better finally draft well, or more heads will roll, including Timmons.
