Hello Canada and hockey fans in the United States andNewfoundland…and the rest of the world too because this is the Internet, after all.
I’ve been watching the playoffs a lotlately. I mean my Leafs aren’t in it but I’m pretty used tothat by now. Still, there’s something to be said about watchinghockey without a bias.
The Habs-Bruins series was fantastic. PK Subban was an absoluteforce of nature. The goaltending duel between Carey Price and Tuukka Rask was alot of fun to watch, too. I’m actually watching Game 4 right nowas I write this. They’re not The Leafs. Despite the great puck, I almost had tolook away from my TV (I have an expensive TV)
Speaking of buying expensive fancy TVs, I’ve been gettinggood use out of my Leafs-themed Scotiabank card.
I haven’t had it for very long but I’vealready witnessed what it can do for me. I was at dinner with a buddy near theAir Canada Centre in Toronto (where we had to wait in line for 30 minutes, asis tradition) and it came time to pay. My friend pulled out his card, put inhis pin, and paid. Pfft. When I busted out my card? The waitress asked aboutit, my buddy didn’t know what it was, and for that briefmoment I was the President. I explained the card, told them about theScotiabank Hockey Adventure of a Lifetime Contest (oh I’ll get to that),and paid my bill in style.
Um…I also may or my not have bought this:
…It was only $4. C’mon. They also had an Anson Carter onefrom his days with the New York Rangers and a Sergei Fedorov one from hisAnaheim Mighty Ducks. Back when the Ducks were not only mighty but purple andgreen, as well. I think I’m gonna go snag them this weekend.
Every little purchase counts. Every purchase enters me (or you) intomonthly draws for NHL tickets and other awesome prizes, like NHL GameCenterLIVE subscriptions and gift cards. Basically, the card I use to buy cool hockeystuff can win me even cooler hockey stuff!
Hope springs eternal in Leafland. No matter what they do, nomatter how often they whiff on the playoffs, I’ve got hockey on mymind 24/7.
