It was announced today that the Winnipeg Jets have placed forward Alex Burmistrov on waivers.

In 23 games this season, Burmistrov has registered only two assists and no goals for the Jets. The 25-year old former Thrashers' 8th overall pick has struggled to find consistency in the NHL since returning from Ak-Bars in the KHL. Burmistrov spent two years playing in Russian from 2013-15 before returning to the Jets for the 2015-16 season, a year in which he posted seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points.

Burmistrov is in the final year of his two-year contract with the Jets and will become a restricted free agent on July 1st, 2017.

We are the people that keep this whole circus running. We get no love but get to see Wanye freak out about stuff in person which is kind of a trade off.

Hoping that this will help Burmi get his funk back so we can trade him to a team for a pick or prospect

I think he'll clear, no problem. And I think any other team would be nuts to take him when they could get him for peanuts come July, barring a huge, and very unlikely, bounce back.

This is probably the last we've seen of Mr Burmistrov. Good riddance, I think.

@VIJETFAN

I think so, as Travis stated teams could get him in the offseason for peanuts so doesnt make sense to grab him now

EDIT: I WAS WRONG D:

At least this way Burmi could possibly relearn the game at a slower pace in the A and potentially salvage his career before the summer instead of just sitting in the presbox for the rest of the year.
