A lot of conversation today about Darnell Nurse, mostly in regard to possible trade options involving Jacob Trouba of the Winnipeg Jets. The lightning rod player? Darnell Nurse. It seems much of Oilers Nation is up in arms over the idea of not sending Nurse to Winnipeg immediately—even though we have no real evidence that there is a trade to be made built around these two players. Today, I would like to look at another side of this story: What do the Edmonton Oilers think of Darnell Nurse? The answer informs the future.

If we are honest, the idea of North America versus Canada had so much appeal that it took a day to get behind the idea of Canada versus Russia. Fortunately, the two nations have a lot of history on the ice that allows both sides to build up a good lather. Add to that the built-in Sidney Crosby—Alex Ovechkin rivalry, the fact Mike Babcock will want to announce his presence with authority to Russian coach Oleg Znarok (seriously, that is his name) and assistant Harijs Vitolins (really). It's tuques versus ushankas for the right to play Sweden or the Seven Nation Army.

Armed with a bunch of kids who only recently were playing video games until 2am in someone's basement on New Year's Eve, these young hockey players are fast and furious.
