The QMJHL may have one of its best crops of NHL potential defenders in recent history.
One of the leaders for this group is Nicolas Meloche. A huge, tough as nails, defensively solid, potent offensively, do-all type defender who has a lot of potential, yet may be undervalued by scouts.

Ottawa 67s forward Travis Konency comes from a family of hockey players - Vancouver Canucks centre Bo Horvat is a second cousin - and despite being small of stature, plays a hard-nosed game. He's also been rather productive at the OHL level, and could represent significant value in the latter part of the first-round.

Sometimes, when a scout sets out to see one player, they leave the rink impressed with another one all together. Columbus, Ohio native Jack Roslovic has been sending scouts out to watch Auston Matthews home very impressed all year, as he's steadily climbed up the draft boards to the point where he's now a consensus late-first or early-second round pick.

The WHL had quite a few "really bad" teams this year. The Prince George Cougars were one of them.
The Cougars controlled the fourth least amount of shots at 47.1 per cent in the first two periods, a statistic which has a close relationship with Fenwick-Close. They were outshot on average by about three shots a game. They scored a league average 222 goals, but allowed an ugly 295 goals against.
The Cougars did have one very bright spot, and that was Jansen Harkins.

Jens Looke is part of an extremely strong group of Swedish draft eligible players this year. The talented forward is a strong skater, with excellent playmaking abilities, who has seen his draft stock rise after a strong showing at the World Junior tournament.
